Birth-chart basics

Why birth time and place matter in a Vedic birth chart

A birth chart begins with three ordinary details—date, time, and place—but each one affects how a moment is translated into a chart.

Date places the planets in time

The birth date anchors the planetary positions for the recorded moment. A date alone is not enough to establish the complete house structure or local horizon.

Time shapes the Ascendant and houses

The Ascendant changes through the day. A difference in recorded time can shift house cusps and may affect divisional or timing views, so uncertainty should be stated rather than hidden.

Place supplies the local sky

Latitude, longitude, time zone, and daylight-saving rules connect clock time to the local astronomical context used for chart calculation.
